Tuesday night’s America’s Got Talent Final was exciting from start to end. Amid the outstanding performances, Mel B created an awkward moment when she called out singer/rapper Micah Palace for being rude behind the scenes. Although the moment was uncomfortable, Simon Cowell stood up for the 23 year old, here’s how everything went down.
Mel B Calls Micah Palace Out For Questionable Backstage Behavior
Quarterfinals Golden Buzzer Micah Palace returned to the AGT stage for his Final performance of the season. The performance was a huge success, leading to positive commentary from almost all the judges. Speaking first, Cowell praised the rapper, saying he deserved to make it this far in the competition.
After Sofia Vergara praised the rapper for his place in the Final, complimenting the performance on the backup dancers, smoke machines, and strobe lights. Differing from the other judges, Mel B gave Micah wise words about making it to the top.
“You have to be nice to everybody,” Mel B said. “The crew, the people that dress you, because if not, you’re gonna meet them on the way back down anyway.”
Simon Cowell Defends Micah Palace
Immediately Mel B’s commentary, both Micah and Cowell were confused. Cowell spoke first, asking for clarification. Instead, Terry Crews quickly turned the floor to Howie Mandel. While Mandel was speaking, Cowell turned to Mel B and asked about her comment once again off microphone.
After accepting Mandel’s negative commentary about the act, Micah turned attention back to Cowell. It seemed like even Micah wanted to know where Mel B’s comments were coming from.
“I’ve just gotta butt in here, I’ve seen you, Micah, backstage, and this is my own perspective,” he said. “You’ve been really polite and sweet to everyone, so that was out of order.”
No further information regarding Micah Palace being rude behind-the-scenes has leaked since Tuesday Night’s episode. Fans can tune back into America’s Got Talent on Wednesday, September 24 at 9PM ET to see who wins this season’s competition.
