Season 19 of American Idol is the talent show we all needed to pull us out of our pandemic funk. The first 12 of the Top 24 contestants have already performed some All-Star Duets that left fans buzzing with excitement. Singer PJ Morton will be joining two contestants during tonights episode in performances you won’t want to miss.

PJ Morton Joins ‘American Idol’ Contestants For Duets

PJ will be performing duets on American Idol with standout contestants Jason Warrior and Liahona Olayan. Jason is having a huge comeback from his viral confrontation with Meghan Trainor on The Four. Liahona is bouncing back after Katy Perry told her that she needs to change her attitude and seize the opportunity. Her brother was previously eliminated from the competition in a very emotional moment. But she is ready to take on the American Idol stage and make a name for herself.

PJ began performing as the keyboardist and vocalist full-time for the popular band Maroon 5 in 2012. Performing next to The Voice coach Adam Levine is a huge accomplishment in its own right. On top of finding some serious achievements with the band, he has produced some very notable solo projects.

PJ’s released his album, New Orleans, with Young Money Records in 2014. It led him to be nominated for the Best R&B Song at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. He created his own record label in 2016 called Morton Records. Along with putting out countless albums of his own, PJ has collaborated with artists like LL Cool J and JoJo.

He previously just won his third consecutive Grammy Award this year for Best Gospel Album. In 2019 he won for Best Traditional R&B Performance. In 2020, PJ took home the honor for Best R&B Song. PJ grew up performing in church and it is clear that he is the perfect person to sing with the American Idol contestants and offer up advice.

What Other Celebrities Will Be Joining The Contestants For Duets?

Last night’s episode saw Joss Stone, Katharine McPhee, Brian McKnight, Ben Rector, Jimmie Allen and Ryan Tedder join 12 of the American Idol contestants for duets. We had some incredible television moments especially with Katharine’s duet of “The Prayer” with Wille Spence. It seriously is a performance that will bring you to tears. Cassandra Coleman and Ryan Tedder also had a stunning duet that left the hair standing up on Katy’s legs.

Tonights episode of American Idol will see superstars Tori Kelly, Jewel, Jason Aldean, Brandon Boyd and Josh Groban along with PJ join the contestants. Next week, the Top 24 will dwindle down to 16 contestants so these duets are really make or break.

You can catch the rest of the American Idol duets at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Let us know which contestants and duets you are excited to see!
