The Voice Introduces New ‘Carson Callback’ Twist
In a recent sneak peek for Season 28 of The Voice, the show teased something new involving Carson Daly, who has hosted the singing competition since Season 1. The video shows a red card with the words “Carson Callback” printed on the front, displayed inside a clear plastic box.
“Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks,” Daly can be heard saying about his experience on the show over the years. “And I’ve never been able to do anything about it, until right now.”
The video then cuts to a screen showing the words “Carson Callback,” as the coaches react with shock to whatever is happening. As Niall Horan watches with his mouth agape, Michael Bublé can be heard saying, “What is happening, Carson Daly?”
NBC Insider reports that the Carson Callback will allow Daly to finally have “a say in which Artists move on and who goes home,” and suggests that this new element of the show will allow the host to “call back” a singer who has not advanced to the next round. We’ll have to wait until Season 28 premieres to learn more.
Season 28 of The Voice is scheduled to premiere on Monday, September 22, on NBC. This season’s celebrity coaching panel features returning coaches Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Michael Bublé.
Season 29 of the show is also currently in production, to air next year. This Battle of Champions season will feature three coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend. In addition to the new artists, Season 29 will also welcome back several fan favorites from past seasons.
