Wendy Williams Calls Herself ‘Formerly Retired,’ Wants to Return to TV
The Masked Singer alum Wendy Williams was recently spotted in New York City after spending time at a wellness facility. The former talk show host called herself “formerly retired” and talked about returning to television.
Wendy Williams Wants to Get Back on TV
Williams was recently spotted shopping at Petco in New York City, and she spoke to the paparazzi about her plans for the future. She explained that she was shopping for cat litter ahead of travel between Paris and California.
“And then I want to be on TV, stuff like Seth Meyers, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, The View, stuff like that,” Williams went on to say. “I am formerly retired.”
Williams stepped away from her eponymous talk show in 2021 as she dealt with health issues, including Graves’ disease. The star spent time at a wellness facility last year. Her publicist Shawn Zanotti told People that she’s “living a healthy, holistic lifestyle.”
“[She] regularly attends the gym and is focused on her overall wellness at this time… travel is a part of her enjoyment,” Zanotti shared.

Williams Says She’s ‘Better Than Ever’
In October of last year, Zanotti released a statement about Williams, saying she was “home and healing after being in a wellness facility since August.” She added, “Wendy is excited about the road ahead and looking forward to releasing her many projects.”
Williams released a statement of her own, saying, “Thank you to my fans for your love, support and many prayers. I am back and better than ever.”
The star’s talk show was hosted by several celebrity guests before coming to an end last year after over a decade on the air. Williams’ time slot was then taken over by one of her guest hosts, Sherri Shepherd.
In 2020, Williams appeared on Season 4 of The Masked Singer as Lips. She was unmasked after one performance, as both Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger correctly guessed her identity.
