The Top 10 results episode on The Voice was filled with many surprises, but none more shocking than Wendy Moten’s fall on stage. Immediately after Team Blake’s first group performance of the season, Wendy was seen tripping over a speaker on stage and falling. Host Carson Daly looked concerned as the contestants and crew surrounded Wendy, and she has since confirmed that she is alright.
After the show, Wendy was rushed to the hospital, skipping rehearsal for her Top 10 performance. It turns out, when she fell, Wendy broke her right elbow and she suffered a fracture to her wrist. The singer appeared during the Top 10 performances with both arms in casts.
During the Top 10 results, all three members of Team Blake performed on stage after hearing that they were all safe in the competition. For the first time ever, Lana Scott, Paris Winningham, and Wendy performed with Shelton. The performance of “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch” was absolutely stunning. After the performance, Daly was talking in front of the stage when he noticed something happening behind him.
After a moment of silence, Daly realized that Wendy had toppled over while exiting the stage. Daly talked the crowd through what was going on and explained that people were coming to help the singer up. As he spoke, you could tell his concern was rising. Wendy was helped off the stage by her teammates and coach.
Wendy Moten Says She is Okay After Fall
After a commercial break, Wendy returned to the stage in a new outfit confirming that she was alright after the fall.
Daly acknowledged the fact that a fall like hers has never happened in the history of The Voice. Wendy said that she is okay and excited to keep going next week.
“Yes I’m okay,” she said. “I’m a little bruised, but you know what I’m still ready to go!”
Wendy returned to perform “Jolene” during the Top 10 Challenge Performances. Tripping over a speaker isn’t enough to bring down this powerhouse singer.
“I’ve never seen a better example of strength, perseverance, and fearlessness on this stage,” Shelton said after her country rendition. Wendy’s casts were even covered in decoration proving that this 56 year old wont let anything hold her back.
