Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul, whose new season of The Bachelorette premieres on Sunday, is reportedly being investigated for an alleged domestic violence incident involving her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.
Taylor Frankie Paul Investigated for Domestic Violence Incident
Over the weekend, TMZ broke the news that filming of Hulu’s reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives had been paused following an incident between cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, who is the father of her 1-year-old son Ever.
People later reported that the Draper City Police Department in Utah has an open “domestic assault investigation” involving Paul and Mortensen, with a spokesperson sharing that “allegations have been made in both directions.” Contact was apparently made with them by law enforcement on February 24 and 25.
A source told People that Paul’s Mormon Wives co-stars are keeping their distance from her, explaining, “None of the women want to be associated with her.” Paul was previously arrested for domestic violence in 2023 following another incident with Mortensen in which she was accused of throwing a chair at him which allegedly hit her daughter.
Sources told TMZ that the more recent incident began with an argument over Mortensen’s hookup with Paul’s co-star Shinia Powell. Paul allegedly choked Mortensen, ripped his necklace off, and grabbed his throat and face. Their son was apparently in the room at the time.
A source claims that Mortensen called the police that night, but changed his story at Paul’s behest. The following night, another incident allegedly occurred in which Paul scratched Mortensen’s neck and threw his phone at a wall. A friend of Mortensen’s reportedly called police the next day after seeing his neck injury.
Other sources say Mortensen was the aggressor during a car ride with Paul. Both members of the couple have reportedly been ordered by the show’s production to receive psych evaluations, although sources close to Mortensen deny that a test has been ordered for him.

Paul’s Season of The Bachelorette Premieres Soon
Taylor Frankie Paul is the star of he new season of The Bachelorette, premiering this Sunday night on ABC. Fans on social media are questioning whether the show should still air following Paul’s recent controversy, as well as wondering how genuine her search for love was considering her relationship with Mortensen.
As one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote in response to a trailer for the show, “She ends up with her ex Dakota, don’t waste your time.” Others pointed out that, as revealed in the new season of Mormon Wives, Paul and Dakota slept together shortly before she started filming The Bachelorette.
“ABC needs to cancel the show,” another user wrote in response to a post about Paul and Mortensen’s alleged domestic violence incident. “Taylor is a complete liability.”
