Navarone Rocked Out on ‘The Voice Of Holland’ Stage
The band consists of Merijn van Haren, Kees Lewiszong, Bram Versteeg, Robin Assen, Roman Huijbreghs, and Rik Bosc. They got their first chair turn just a few seconds into the performance by Lil Kleine and Waylon. This was followed by Ali B and lastly Anouk who they ended up choosing out of the four as their coach.
Navarone was the first band to compete on the show and the first to reach the finale in the history of the show as well. Following their performance on the blind auditions, they went on to compete pretty strongly in the competition. They sang famous hits such as “Respect” by Aretha Franklin during the battle rounds.

In the Knockouts, they continued taking over the competition singing Sia’s “Chandelier.” They gave the pop song a soft rock twist and really brought out the lead singer’s talented vocals. The group didn’t stop there. They continued strong all the way into the finals where they sang the same song as they did in their blind audition, “Whole Lotta Love.”
They finished with “Perfect Design,” which is an original song by the group. Navarone made it far on the show and had an amazing stage presence where viewers felt like they were at an actual concert. But, the group lost to Dennis Van Aarssen in the finale.
After Navarone lost, fans were still in love with the band. On The Voice of Holland YouTube channel, videos of their many performances have over 100,000 views and comments of people who feel that the band should have won over the competition.
One person wrote in Dutch, “What a GREAT song !! And they really should have won tho!” another commented “I don’t think it’s normal that you didn’t win, but I’ll just keep following your music. You are super Navarone!”
Where Are They Now?
The Rock group that began in 2009 by both lead singer Merijn van Haren and guitarist Kees Lewiszong released their first EP- Navarone that same year. They didn’t release their first album A Darker Shade of White till the summer of 2012. Since then they have dropped three albums Vim and Vigor, Oscilation, and Salvo, then following the success of that album, they dropped a DVD A Date at the Chapel which documented two acoustic concerts they had with a classical ensemble.
