Lin Manuel Miranda Spoke About How He Broke The Law Performing In ‘Hamilton’
Kelly wanted to get down to the details that fans never knew about the show. When one cast member asked “Lin have you told everybody about your Les Mis speaker in your dressing room?” the leading man looked a little frazzled. But, it was finally time to reveal his longest kept secret. “I broke the law from 2015 to 2016. We were neighbors with a production of Les Miserables I guess we can tell the story now and the sound guys over there knew I was a big fan,” he said. “They wired a speaker outside the building and around into my dressing room so I would hear the end of act one of Les Mis at my intermission because there show is just that much longer than ours.” Well, that’s one way to go to see or hear a show without paying for it.
“You could hear Les Mis live through my sound system” Lin went on to say. “That was my private Les Mis perk.” We’re pretty jealous that he got to listen to Les Mis literally all of the time for an entire year. Kelly went on to say that Les Mis was the first musical she went to see when she was 16 with her choir group. She went on a scholarship to see the show because she was “too poor” to see it otherwise. Lin also said that it was one of the first musicals he saw as well.
