WATCH 7 YO ‘BGT’ Contestant Recite Poem With GIANT Snake Around Her Neck
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Olivia Binfield was 7 years old when she decided to perform one of the most unexpected and dangerous acts ever on ‘BGT.’ Though tiny in stature, she took one huge risk by putting a snake around her neck. Check out her unforgettable Season 5 audition below because it will leave you speechless.
Olivia Binfield Brought Pet Snake To Her ‘BGT’ Audition
Olivia mentioned how she is able to memorize all of her poems in her head and does not even need a piece of paper to read off of. Hosts Ant & Dec noticed that Olivia had a wooden box with her backstage but she refused to show them what was inside of it. She made her way onto the stage with excitement. When judge Amanda Holden asked Olivia what she wants to be when she grows up, she confidently said “a zoologist.”
When it came time for Olivia to perform her act, she ran off backstage leaving the judges confused. She reached into the wooden box and pulled out a huge snake which had Ant & Dec shook. Olivia returned to the stage with the snake around her neck. She announced that the snake is named Lucy and it lives in her house.

With Lucy slivering around her neck, Olivia delivered a poem about wanting to preserve endangered species and their ecosystems. It made the audience laugh at times but also say “aw.”
“Olivia it was absolutely brilliant,” Amanda said after the audition. “You did so well to remember all of it, especially with a snake on your shoulders.” Judge Michael McIntyre was concerned that Olivia could not breathe with Lucy around her neck. But Olivia is such a pro that she quickly put everyone at ease and told them she could breathe.
Ant & Dec tried to hurry the judges to make their decision about voting her through to the next round. They were trying to get all of the judges to say “yes” because Lucy continued to tighten around Olivia’s neck. Finally, all three judges voted her through to the next round. While many were looking forward to seeing what Olivia was going to do next, she did not appear in the Semifinals.
Where Is She Now?
After shocking the world with her poetry skills and pet snake on ‘BGT,’ Olivia’s love for animals continues. Olivia got to visit Durrell Wildlife park straight after her audition and took a look at all of the animals with conservationist Gerald Durrell.
She posted a series of poems on YouTube about animals and the preservation of their habitats in 2015.
Olivia performed a poem in memory of Cecil the Lion that has over 21,000 views on YouTube. Other than that, Olivia has been pretty quiet on social media but we can only assume she has continued her animal activism and is on her way to fulfilling her dream of becoming a zoologist.
