‘Voice’ Winner Jake Hoot Announces New Duet With Coach Kelly Clarkson
Season 17 The Voice winner Jake Hoot just made a big announcement about upcoming music. The country singer will be collaborating with his coach Kelly Clarkson on a new duet.
Jake announced the collaboration on Instagram Monday. His victory marked Kelly’s third time as a winning coach on the show — her first with a male artist. Read on to find out more about the upcoming song.
Jake Hoot Announces Kelly Clarkson Duet
Before making the announcement, Jake had teased on Instagram that something big was coming. Then on Monday, he shared that he and Kelly would be singing together on his new song “I Would’ve Loved You,” off his upcoming EP.
Jake shared a brief clip from the accompanying music video, showing him and Kelly performing in an empty theater. “We had so much fun recording the song, then music video!” Jake wrote. “I can’t wait for you to hear and see the finished product on January 27!”
Kelly hasn’t commented on the collaboration yet, although Season 18 winner Todd Tilghman (from Team Blake Shelton) commented on the Instagram post, writing, “So awesome!” Jake replied, “thanks homes!”
Jake’s EP will be released January 27. He’s been teasing some of the tracks on Instagram recently. Titles include “Something We Can Slow Dance To,” “This Is The Night,” and “Love Out Of Time.”
What Has Jake Been Up To Since ‘The Voice’?
After winning The Voice in 2019, Jake released his winning single “Better Off Without You.” In February of 2020, he made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. He’s since released several singles, including “Tennessee Strong,” which benefitted emergency relief following tornadoes in his home state.
Last September, Jake announced that he was engaged to his girlfriend Brittany Nicole Hoyt. He has a daughter named Macy from a previous relationship. Jake said Macy approves of him marrying Brittany.
It sounds like he and coach Kelly Clarkson remain on good terms. “Not only have I grown as an artist and as a person, but you’ve also, with your love for your kids, have made me a better parent,” Jake told her on the show, bringing her to tears.
