The Voice Blind Auditions are winding down and each of the coaches has almost filled their teams. To help secure the last few artists, the coaches were pulling out all the stops in tonight’s episode. Ariana Grande was nearly brought to tears by one performer. Blake Shelton threw some major shade at his fellow coaches during an amazing four-chair turn. The gloves are off.

Ariana Grande Gets Emotional During Stunning Audition

Grande was very moved by Ryleigh Plank’s performance of “Anyone” by Demi Lovato during The Voice Blind Auditions. During the last few notes of the song, tears were welling in Grande’s eyes. It became clear that she felt a personal connection to the performance. She would stop at nothing to get Ryleigh on her team. The only problem was that Kelly Clarkson also turned her chair.

Grande and Ryleigh bonded over being from Florida. Clarkson still showed off her Team Kelly jacket in the hopes that it would help sway Ryleigh’s mind. The jacket was no match for Grande’s vocal health lunchbox. Ryleigh is now a member of Team Ariana. The lunchbox is seriously the best gift idea ever. Shelton pointed out the hilarious reason why Ryleigh chose to be on Team Ariana instead of Team Kelly.

“You’re offering people from Florida a coat,” he said.

There was yet another battle between the coaches to show off their gifts after Jershika Maple’s Blind Audition. Her performance of “Can You Stand The Rain” had Clarkson flaunting her Team Kelly jackets while Legend showed off his team boxing robes. Clarkson and Legend got so competitive that they both sang jingles to help get Jershika on their teams. Jershika chose to be on Team Kelly. It was nice to hear Legend sing though.

LiBianca Owns the Stage with SZA Hit

Some of the performances tonight were a little bit lackluster until LiBianca took the stage. This is not meant to discredit any of the other artist’s stories and journey’s on The Voice stage. There were just a lot of inconsistent vocals and iffy song choices tonight. But, LiBianca’s performance was the most consistent and exciting. She really has the wow factor.

LiBianca was born in Minnesota. She moved to Cameroon with her family when she was 4 years old and was exposed to Afrobeat music. When she was 13, she moved back to America. The 20-year-old performed “Good Days” by SZA for her Blind Audition on The Voice. Grande and Shelton both turned their chairs. Grande applauded her for making a SZA song her own. She said LiBianca’s voice sounds “divine.”

Shelton liked how she was really honing into her lower register but still managed to have a lot of volume at the same time. He pointed out that he has won this show with different genres of artists, not just country. It came as a shock to all of the other coaches after LiBianca chose to be on Team Blake. She said she asked God for a sign and she felt Shelton’s words matched up with that.

John Legend Lands Gospel Artist After Four-Chair Turn

Brittany Bree started singing in church when she was 5 years old. She has been a praise and worship leader since she was 16. That’s how she got her start on big stages. Her life changed when she had two daughters. She works on an assembly line packing boxes all day and also works as an assistant adjustor. As a mom working several jobs, taking care of two children, and going to church, Brittany is Superwoman.

Brittany has never really sung any other kind of music besides gospel. She is challenging herself on The Voice to do different genres of music. Her performance of “Call Out My Name” was the perfect way to close out the show. When she hit the high notes in the chorus, Legend, Grande, and Clarkson turned their chairs. Shelton turned his chair at the last second to make this a four-chair turn.

Grande complimented the texture and tone of her voice. Legend said her voice really grabbed him and that her “energy explodes from the stage.” Clarkson called Brittany a “great storyteller.” Shelton went on a tangent about how Legend left the church and Clarkson left her family behind to pursue music. His tactics obviously didn’t work because she chose to be on Team Legend. This is the perfect pairing and I can’t wait to see Brittany thrive on the show.
