Former The Voice contestant Kata Hay was reportedly arrested earlier this week on a warrant for vehicular homicide. Hay competed on Season 10 of the show in 2016, on Christina Aguilera’s team.
The Voice Contestant Kata Hay Arrested
According to Billboard, Hay (whose real name is Kata Huddleston) was arrested on Wednesday, as confirmed by the Goodlettsville Police Department in Tennessee. The department had previously posted a photo of Hay on Facebook asking for the public’s help locating her.
The car crash which preceded Hay’s arrest apparently occurred on Long Hollow Pike near I-65 in Tennessee. The Facebook post about her read in part, “We have reason to believe that she may be enroute to Oklahoma and traveling with a white male and quite possibly towing a large camper.”
Hay was arrested early Wednesday in her home state of Oklahoma, as another Facebook post from the Goodlettsville Police thanked “the multitude of citizens who called in with tips as to the location of Ms. Huddleston.”
The singer also reportedly has an open DUI case, and she is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving with an open container of alcohol. Property damage from the December 10 incident is estimated to be more than $1,500.
This isn’t Kata Hay’s first arrest. The singer was previously sentenced to six months in jail in 2022 for sexual contact with a minor. According to TMZ, Hay pleaded guilty to the charge. The incident reportedly involved a 16-year-old boy when she was 35.
In her Blind Audition for The Voice, Hay turned three out of the four coaches’ chairs with her performance of “Redneck Woman” by Gretchen Wilson. Hay chose to join Christina Aguilera’s team. After she admitted that the coach was her “first girl crush,” the pair shared a kiss.
Hay made it through the Battles and Knockouts before being eliminated in the first week of the Season 10 live Playoffs.
