BGT judge, David Walliams has admitted that he will ‘miss the money’ during a TV appearance this morning. This follows a recent announcement that the show will not air this year due to strict COVID-19 restrictions in the UK.

David Walliams Says He Will Miss His BGT Paycheck

David Walliams joined Lorraine on ITV this morning to discuss the cancellation of Britain’s Got Talent in 2021. The TV personality admitted to understanding why the show had to be delayed but jokingly told Lorraine Kelly he will miss the £1.5 million he would normally earn.

“I’m going to miss the money!” joked Walliams on the morning show. He added: “We can’t do the show as usual, we need the audience. It is a shame but we will be back bigger and better next year.”

Also in agreeance with David Walliams, is another BGT judge who will miss out on all the action this year, Amanda Holden. “I think out of every show on television, Britain’s Got Talent needs the audience,” she said on her Heart Radio show. “We need you guys, because we call them the fifth judge and it makes no sense not to have them behind us.”

Adding to the show’s inability to move forward with production are the strict restrictions currently in place in the UK, with the country only predicted to return to normal life by the summer to accommodate a vaccine rollout.

The Real reason: Simon Cowell Still Unable To Return To UK

If the list of reasons why BGT can’t go ahead this year isn’t long enough, one deciding factor is still at large, Simon Cowell. The show’s creator has been in the United States since recording America’s Got Talent auditions nearly a year ago.

It’s likely the TV judge won’t be able to make a return to his London home until at least May, according to new reports regarding Prime Minister, Boris Johnson’s reopening plans.
