Iman Shumpert Reveals ‘DWTS’ Advice from Wife Teyana Taylor

DANIELLA KARAGACH, IMAN SHUMPERT dancing with the stars

Dancing with the Stars Season 30 contestant Iman Shumpert stopped by The Real this week to talk about his time on the show, as well as the priceless advice his wife Teyana Taylor gave him for delivering the best performance week to week.

Shumpert has made it to the Top 6 couples this season, and a few weeks ago he earned a perfect score from the judges for his Contemporary routine on Horror Night. The basketball player is in it to win it.

Iman Shumpert Shares Teyana Taylor’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Tips

Host Jeannie Mai asked Shumpert what his wife thinks of his dance moves when he steps into the ballroom each week. He shared that Taylor jokingly asks him, “Where’d you learn that?” Co-host Garcelle Beauvais wondered if Taylor has given any tips for doing his best in the competition.

Shumpert compared Taylor’s advice with the advice of his dance partner Daniella Karagach, saying, “Daniella will give me structure tips. This is the form, this is the point system. This is how, this is why. Teyana gives me, ‘All right, you got your steps? Now sell it.'”

The NBA star added that Taylor will tell him, “Yeah, I get it. This is the moves. But how does it look when you do the moves?” And Taylor has some pretty amazing moves of her own as a dancer and choreographer, so we’re sure Shumpert has benefitted from her advice.

Shumpert Believes He Can Win the Mirrorball Trophy This Season

Beauvais said she loves the friendship Shumpert has formed with his dance partner. Shumpert said he always finds it amusing whenever the much-shorter Karagach yells at him. They’ve used their height difference to their advantage on the dance floor, with Shumpert picking Karagach up like she weighs nothing.

When asked if he thinks they can take home the mirrorball trophy this season, Shumpert replied, “For sure … I didn’t come on the show to lose. I think that’s another reason it’s exciting for me, ’cause at the end of the day, it’s a competition.”

As for which contestant is his biggest threat, Shumpert said that it’s JoJo Siwa, joking, “My daughter might vote for her.”
