‘The Masked Singer’ Reveals Two-Person Banana Split Costume

Time is ticking down to the sixth season of The Masked Singer. The show premieres in less than a month and FOX finally revealed the Banana Split costume seen in the teaser trailer. Who could be behind this mask?
On August 25, The Masked Singer shared a video of their brand new costume on Instagram. The video is visually similar to the announcement for Hamster and Mallard, so it seems like there might be more announcements in the near future.
The digital promotion video begins with text saying “Who is this appealing Masked Singer?” then follows up with “This Masked Singer has a split personality.” You’ll notice really quickly that this is another two person costume, similar to Russian Dolls’ three person costume from last season. S
This announcement featured a magazine cover with the costume on it. The song underneath the video is The Masked Singer’s theme song. This animation, like the others we’ve already seen, has a bunch of fun phrases, quotes, and even pictures of our celebrity panel.
Which Celebrities Are Behind This Two Person Costume?
This advertisement clearly shows that this costume will feature two people, one as the banana and one as the ice cream. Fans in the comments of the post began guessing who this celebrity duo could be. Some fans thought this could be Dancing With The Stars celebrity siblings, Julianne and Derek Hough.
“Hmmmm…seeing Ice Cream do that pose made me think Dancer,” said one fan on Instagram. “They might be Related or Married, my guess is Julianne Hough and Derek Hough both Professional Dancers.”
After reading this, I definitely can see how the pose is dance based. It would be really cool to see Julianne and Derek Hough on the stage. But, I think it’s extremely unlikely that the Hough siblings have time in their busy schedules.
A High School Musical Comeback?!
One fan suggested the unlikely High School Musical duo, Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron would be coming to the stage in this outfit. Personally, I appreciate this comment to the moon and back, but I can’t see it happening. Since their HSM days they’ve split in completely different career paths.
If we were to see a HSM duo, I think it would be Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel. The duo announced four years ago that they’re good friends now after hating each other during the trilogy. But I even think this is extremely unlikely.
I don’t want to completely disagree to the idea of Ashley Tisdale behind the costume in this instance. She has become quite popular on YouTube and TikTok in the past few years. She even once had a YouTube series called Music Sessions where she would perform with her husband, Chris French. Tisdale had their first child a few months ago so it’s possible she’s trying to make a career comeback with The Masked Singer. They definitely could be the married celebrity couple behind the Banana Split costume, but only time will tell if this prediction is true.
I think Julianne and Derek Hough because of the clue for Nicole that they would have a ball with her Derek was Nicole’s partner on Dancing with the Stars.
