‘The Masked Singer’ Recap: Ram is Unmasked as ‘Domino Masters’ Star

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Masked Singer Season 7 returned on Wednesday night, as the first group of contestants performed for a second time after last week’s premiere. At the end of tonight’s episode, Ram was unmasked as sportscaster Joe Buck, who announces FOX show Domino Masters. The show’s host Eric Stonestreet just happened to be tonight’s guest judge.

Once again, Rudy Giuliani was nowhere to be seen this week despite the show obviously teasing his talked-about reveal. However, the episode wasn’t without its dramatic moments, as Firefly stormed off the stage after learning they were in the bottom two.

‘The Masked Singer’s Ram Is Unmasked as Joe Buck

During Wednesday’s episode, Ram performed “Learn to Fly” by Foo Fighers, while wearing a giant cape to go along with his already dramatic costume. Before singing, he pointed at Stonestreet and made a kicking gesture, hinting that the pair knew each other.

At the end of the night, Ram and Firefly were announced to be in the bottom two. To decide which contestant should be unmasked, the two of them had to duel. They each delivered a brief performance, with Ram singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver.

Ram ended up with the least amount of votes, so he had to be unmasked. Guesses included Jason Biggs, Kelly Slater, and Jason Sudeikis. At first Stonestreet wondered if maybe Ram was his Modern Family co-star Ty Burrell. However, he eventually figured out that it must be his Domino Masters co-star Joe Buck. Robin Thicke agreed with him.

After his unmasking, Buck shared that he had a paralyzed vocal cord 11 years ago, so it was great to be able to perform, even though he’s better known for his speaking voice.

Firefly Walks Off Stage in Tense Moment

The most dramatic moment of the night came when the bottom two were announced as Ram and Firefly. The judges were shocked when they saw Firefly walk into the backstage area, seemingly angry that they were up for elimination. However, they soon returned for the duel.

This is the second noteworthy moment Firefly has had during the competition. Last week, they had to pause their performance after coughing uncontrollably. This week, they returned to sing “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” by Michael Jackson, showing off some impressive dance moves and hinting that they’ve worked with Pharrell.

For the duel, Firefly performed “God Is a Woman” by Ariana Grande. There was no question that they sounded better than Ram, and the votes reflected that. Firefly was declared safe until next week’s show, when the remaining group members will battle it out again.

Rudy Giuliani Has Yet to Be Unmasked

We already know that Rudy Giuliani will be unmasked at some point this season, prompting Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke to walk off the set. However, it didn’t happen during the premiere like we were expecting. Even though the show seemed to tease the big moment this week, they fooled us again.

In a preview for the show, Jenny McCarthy could be heard saying, “They just walked off the stage.” It turns out that she was actually referring to Firefly’s dramatic exit over being up for elimination. It’s unlikely to happen next week either, since the same contestants will return for a third time, and none of the remaining characters seem to be Giuliani.

Next week’s episode will feature a double elimination. Thingamabob and Cyclops both turned out some impressive performances this week. They’ll go up against Firefly. Let us know in the comments which contestant you’re rooting for.
