Bill Nye Marries Liza Mundy at the Smithsonian
Appropriately, People reports that Nye and Mundy wed at the Castle Building’s Haupt Garden at the Smithsonian Institute. The magazine shared photos from the happy day, taken by former White House photographer Pete Souza. Nye wore an orange flower in his lapel to match Mundy’s bouquet.
Robert Picardo, The Doctor in various Star Trek series, officiated the wedding. A source states that the couple wrote their own vows, which were “equal parts moving and comical.” Their first dance was to Sam Cooke’s rendition of “What a Wonderful World.”
Mundy is a former Washington Post reporter and best-selling author. She and Nye connected after Mundy mentioned Nye’s mother, cryptanalyst Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye, in her book Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II.
Nye Competed on The Masked Dancer, DWTS
Nye has shown off his dance skills on two talent shows over the years. In 2013, he appeared as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars Season 17. Tyne Stecklein was his partner, they placed 11th in the competition.
More recently, Nye competed as Ice Cube on the first season of The Masked Dancer, a spin-off of The Masked Singer. He finished in ninth place before revealing his identity. Only judge Ken Jeong correctly guessed his identity.
“It’s so cool. Dancing is a blast,” Nye (who is known to enjoy swing dancing) told Entertainment Weekly. “What else would you want to do? As soon as I [heard about the opportunity] — and this is not a pun — I jumped at the chance.”
