The 10 Best ‘DWTS’ Team Dances Ranked

Team dances on Dancing With The Stars are a great way to spice up the competition, pitting a group of pairs against the other. First introduced in season seven of the show, we’ve seen some of the most exciting team dances since then. Here are the top ten best team dances ranked.


1. Team Who You Gonna Call? (Season 21)

Pulling off a Ghostbusters-themed freestyle for their team dance, Team Who You Gonna Call? delivers a high-energy routine with lots of great choreography. The team could match the fun of the dance with being so precise in the choreography.

2. Team Loca (Season 18)

The team that shined the most on Latin Night in DWTS season 18 is Team Loca. They initially had a problem when actress Amy Purdy got injured, forcing her to go to a hospital. The unfortunate event resulted in the performance during dress rehearsal being recorded but was so in sync that they still received an almost perfect score.

3. Team Foxing Awesome (Season 17)

The performance that is completely upbeat and fun, Team Foxing Awesome danced to the beat of “What Does The Fox Say,” by Ylvis. This dance was led by Derek Hough, who had never lost a team dance at the time. The inventive choreography of the routine gave judge Bruno Tonioli goosebumps. Needless to say, Hough added another team dance win that night with a perfect score.

4. Team Call Me Maybe (Season 15)

Dancing to the tune of Carly Rae Jepsen‘s song “Call Me Maybe,” this team formed with the overall theme of high school. The routine was filled to the brim with snappy moves, gymnastics, lifts and flips, and Tonioli complimented that the performance going to be hard to top.

5. Team Past (Season 23)

Dancing a Scottish-themed Viennese waltz, Team Past of season 23 did an amazing routine while perfectly in sync with each other. The team would go on to beat Team Future that night, scoring a 38 to Team Future’s 35.

6. Team Phantom of the Ballroom (Season 25)

Doing a broadway inspired dance is Team Phantom of the Ballroom. Their performance was a splendid, theatrical extravaganza, according to Tonioli. Eventually scoring a perfect 30 over 30 points beating Team Monster Mash.

7. Team Tango (Season 14)

A team named after a dance routine would certainly specialize in Tango choreography and synchronism. The team showcased the routine almost perfectly to “Rock Toccata,” by David Garrett. The teams include actor and rapper Roshon Fegan with Chelsie Hightower, singer Katherine Jenkins with Mark Ballas, Journalist Maria Menounos with Derek Hough, and actor Jaleel White with Kym Johnson.

8. Team 1970’s Football ( Season 26)

Celebrities on the team are Adam Rippon, Arike Ogunbowale, Jennie Finch, and Mirai Nagasu. With their professional dance partners, they performed a colorful freestyle to “Instant Replay,” by Dan Hartman. Tonioli praised the dance and energy, while Carrie Ann Inaba said it was very fun.

9. Team Itsy Bitsy (Season 19)

A spider-themed freestyle dance routine was done by Team Itsy Bitsy on Halloween Night of that year. The routine done by this team would earn continuous nines from the judges totaling 36 out of 40 points.

10. Team Trouble (Season 20)

The team dance features actress Rumer Willis with Val Chmerkovskiy, TV personality Chris Soules with Witney Carson, singer Patti LaBelle with Artem Chigvintsev, and Riker Lynch with Allison Holker. The team hit the dance floor with a well-choreographed routine to “Trouble,” by Iggy Azalea.
