Carly Rae Jepsen is once again finding her place at the frontline of mainstream music. Let’s see how her song, “The Loneliest Time,” is turning into the latest pop anthem on TikTok.
“The Loneliest Time” is TikTok’s Newest Viral Audio
Carly Rae Jepsen first teased her newest project on TikTok, giving fans a preview of the lyrics and tune of this upcoming release. The Loneliest Time marks Jepsen’s sixth studio album. Now, the emotional yet playful melody of the title track has changed the TikTok algorithm, becoming a viral background music for most random contents.
“The Loneliest Time” was created in collaboration with Canadian baroque-pop singer Rufus Wainwright. While the track is solid as a whole, TikTok users are particularly enticed by its bridge.
“What happened was we reached the moon / But lost in space, I think we got there all too soon / But you know what? I’m comin’ back for you, baby / I’m comin’ back for you.”
From university gags to cigarette break puns, “The Loneliest Time” is indeed a relatable audio. As of writing, almost 70,000 TikTok videos have been created out of the song. Amazingly, even pop singer Meghan Trainor used the track in one of her videos.
Carly Rae Jepsen was on Canadian Idol
Jepsen practically became a household name with her 2012 hit “Call Me Maybe.” Even though the singer found widespread fame, many people don’t know that she originally rose to fame on Canadian Idol in 2007.
Jepsen was persuaded by her high school drama teacher to try her luck in the said show. During her audition, she took the risk of singing her own song, “Sweet Talker.” Consequently, she obtained all the judges’ yeses. The “Call Me Maybe” singer finished the series out in third place, but struggled to break into the pop industry. So far, Jepsen is only the Canadian Idol alum to ever receive a Grammy nomination.
What Has She Been Up To Now?
In present day, Jepsen is hitting the road on the So Nice Tour. This 24-date concert was launched in support of The Loneliest Time, featuring fellow musician Empress Of. Since this tour has begun, fans have continually posted clips of Jepsen singing her TikTok hit on stage.
Last September, she announced the announces the 2023 United Kingdom and Ireland leg of the same tour. Expected to kick off on February 5 next year, this tour is her biggest UK stint to date.
Certainly, Carly Rae Jepsen is coming back. This time, with more matured vocals and more expressive music.
