Another day, another Terry Crews controversy on Twitter. The America’s Got Talent host has once again stirred up backlash on social media. This time, Terry encouraged followers to boycott an Atlanta strip club.

In recent months, Terry has been in hot water for his comments about the Black Lives Matter movement. Now users are calling him out for not using his platform to talk about other important issues.
On Thursday, Terry tweeted, “BOYCOTT MAGIC CITY,” with the hashtag #blacklovematters. Magic City is a strip club in Atlanta. Many Twitter users took issue with Terry’s message.
Other users thought it seemed strange that Terry was tweeting about a strip club instead of speaking out against police brutality or sharing compassionate messages about Hurricane Laura — current issues dominating the news.
Hot97 points out that the timing of Terry’s tweet is also interesting considering many NBA players recently announced a boycott of the playoffs in protest against the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Is Terry’s “boycott” tweet a response to this?

This isn’t Terry’s first time receiving backlash for his social media comments. In June, in the midst of nationwide Black Lives Matter protests, he tweeted, “Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy.”
Although he received widespread criticism, Terry went on to defend his comment, even posting a Martin Luther King Jr. quote using the phrase “Black supremacy” for Juneteenth.
Terry later tweeted, “We must ensure #blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter.” He later defended himself, saying, “I realized that some Black lives matter more than others, because they don’t want me, as a Black man, to talk.”
Even former AGT judge Gabrielle Union has shared her opinion of Terry, saying, “I think Terry Crews is showing us who he is and what he does during times of adversity and it’s not solidarity.”
