On Sunday night, singer Ashe performed her song “Till Forever Falls Apart” with Finneas on American Idol. As it turns out, Ashe has a history with the show, and not just as a guest performer.

The singer, whose full name is Ashlyn Rae Willson, revealed on TikTok that she herself auditioned for the show when she was 17 years old. She highlighted how amazing it was to be performing on that stage over 10 years later.

Ashe Auditioned for ‘American Idol’ as a Teenager

On Sunday before the show, Ashe posted a TikTok showing a photo of herself at age 17, auditioning for American Idol. She throws a shocked expression to the camera while wearing a hoodie and holding her phone. She added in smaller text that she didn’t make it past the first round.

Ashe then showed a brief shot of herself now, before turning the camera around to show the TV listing for last night’s American Idol episode, featuring a performance from herself. At the end of the clip, she added a shot of her name outside her dressing room on the show.

The video is set to “Sh-boom (Life Could Be a Dream)” by the Chords. The 28-year-old has certainly followed her dreams, and is creating a promising career for herself. Ashe recently released her debut album, titled Ashlyn, after several years of performing and songwriting.

Ashe grew up in Los Angeles, singing in church and listening to Christian music. However, her grandfather introduced her to more popular artists like the Beach Boys. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated in 2015.

What Songs Has She Released?

Ashe has worked with Finneas (the older brother of Grammy winner Billie Eilish) on several releases, aside from their recent collaboration “Till Forever Falls Apart.” Finneas produced her second EP, Moral of the Story: Chapter 1, as well as several songs on its follow-up.

You might recognize Ashe’s single “Moral of the Story” from the Netflix movie To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. The track has become popular on TikTok, and Ashe released a duet version with former One Direction star Niall Horan.

Ashe has also co-written songs for other artists, most notably the 2017 track “You Don’t Do It for Me Anymore” by Demi Lovato, off the album Tell Me You Love Me. She’s also toured with artists such as The Chainsmokers and Louis the Child.

You can follow Ashe on Instagram to keep up with her life and career. The singer has over a million followers on the platform.
