The Voice has shared an early release performance from Tuesday night’s new Battles episode, featuring Team Blake members Kylee Dayne and Mary Kate Connor. The two singers take on Taylor Swift’s hit song “Anti-Hero” for a chance to stay in the competition.
Team Blake Battles in The Voice Early Release
Kylee Dayne auditioned for Season 23 with a performance of “Fallingwater” by Maggie Rogers. Blake Shelton and Chance the Rapper both turned their chairs, with Niall Horan joining them at the last minute . Kylee chose to join Shelton’s team.
Meanwhile, Mary Kate Connor auditioned with “Stars” by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. The 17-year-old singer got Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson to turn their chairs around for her. She chose to join Shelton’s team.
Now Kylee and Mary Kate are going up against each other in a Battle to Taylor Swift’s song “Anti-Hero.” In the show’s early release clip, the two singers perform a slowed-down version of the hit song. Their voices blend beautifully together, with each of them getting a chance to shine.
Niall Horan complimented Kylee and Mary Kate’s take on Swift’s song, saying they “made it completely your own.” He added that Shelton has “one hell of a choice to make here.” However, he said that he was leaning toward Mary Kate as the Battle’s winner.
Chance the Rapper told the singers that it “seems like y’all grew up together or something, ’cause it was so in sync.” He suggested that they should record a cover together. Chance said that he would choose Kylee as the winner, adding she could win the whole show.
Shelton said he was dreading this Battle, telling the singers that it’s “extra tough” since they’ve grown so close. We’ll have to wait until Tuesday’s new episode at 9/8c on NBC to find out which of the two artists Shelton chose as the winner.
