‘SNL’ Parodies ‘The Voice’ in Hilarious Clip – Watch Now!

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Saturday Night Live took the opportunity to poke fun at competition series, The Voice during their Show on Saturday Night. The hilarious pre-recorded clip has earned over 800,000 views since the show aired. Here’s why fans are cracking up over it.
SNL Transforms into The Voice For Hilarious Skit
During the pre-recorded section of Saturday Night’s show, members of Please Don’t Destroy, Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy acted alongside Ego Nwodim in a parody. The comedians poked fun at The Voice in this skit, acting as characters Cody Swinggums, Mikey Fiesta, Eddie Thrashhorn, and Coco Summers, respectively.
Within the clip, it’s clear the team is spoofing The Voice, from the use of the red chairs, the branding, and the mention of “making a team.” Although the comedians didn’t use specific coach names, it can be inferred whose personas they were poking fun at. Mikey Fiesta is a pop music producer seen with tattoos similar to Adam Levine. Coco Summers is an R&B mogul with hair similar to Christina Aguilera. Cody Swiggums is a country artist, most likely spoofing Blake Shelton. The final judge in the skit is Eddie Thrashhorn, who is a rock icon. It’s unclear who the comedian is supposed to be.
Within the skit, All four comedians are seen turning their chairs for “Amazing Grace” singer Reggie (played by Shane Gillis). As soon as they turn, they’re shocked to see Reggies appearance and the fact that he’s in a mobility scooter, immediately after, they individually turn their chairs back.
Reggie eggs on the judges saying that they can’t turn him away due to his looks, so they turn back around. Once they hear more about Reggie, they once again one by one turn around. Then, the music gets somber and Reggie begs the coaches to give him a shot.
This Skit Plays With the “Worst” Blind Audition Ever Narrative
The judges then decide to turn back around and are shocked when they find out Reggie can walk. The judges once again turn back around when he makes sex based jokes around the mobility scooter. Attempting once again, Reggie admits that the coaches can’t do this on his 14th birthday. This, once again, causes coaches to turn their chairs around and back, even though it’s clear Reggie is not 14.
Reggie finishes off his audition saying he “wants to be on the lady’s team, because she’s sexy.” To which Coco Summers drives her chair off the set. Finally, the judges all agree Reggie doesn’t have a chance at making it in the music industry. The clip then changes to a music video of Reggie with Tate McRae singing “Amazing Grace.”
