Simon Cowell Says He Could Get One Direction Back Together, What is He Waiting For?

Simon Cowell is confident that he could get One Direction back together, and now we’re just waiting for him to do it. The judge made the claim on Australian morning show Today last week.
One Direction was formed on Cowell’s show The X Factor in 2010. Five months after Zayn Malik left the group in 2015, they officially went on hiatus. The members have gone on to release solo music, although fans hold out hope for a reunion.
Simon Cowell Talks One Direction Getting Back Together
Asked if One Direction was getting back together, Cowell told the hosts, “I’d love that to happen. I think it will happen.” He said it would be “the most amazing thing” if they were to get back to recording music or touring together.
Cowell added that he wasn’t sure which member was holding out on getting back together, but seemed confident that he could convince them to reunite. So we want to know why he hasn’t just done it already.
“If I could get in a room with them,” the music mogul shared, “and just say to them, ‘You know what, whether it’s six months or something, I think you’d have such a great time and enjoy each other’s company again,’ maybe I could persuade them.”
Three of the members — Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne — are fathers now, so it might be difficult to coordinate their schedules, but we have our fingers crossed that Cowell will make it happen one day.

Cowell Teases a New Talent Show Coming Soon
Cowell told the hosts that he would be announcing a new talent show in a couple of weeks.
“I can’t say what it is at the moment, because I haven’t signed the contract, but I’m excited about it,” he said. He also added it would be “different to what I’ve done before.”
The Got Talent judge recently appeared in a TV commercial with children’s music group The Wiggles. He said he got “more and more irritated” by the group’s upbeat attitude while filming the ad, although he said they were “very, very nice people.”
Cowell has also been doing well since recovering from last year’s back injury, saying he feels fitter than he has in a long time because he’s been exercising. He recently returned for the new season of America’s Got Talent, airing Tuesdays on NBC.
