Simon Cowell Calls 17 YO Body-Popping ‘BGT’ Dancer ‘Unbelievable’ [VIDEO]

Kieran Lai auditioned for season eight of ‘BGT’ with a body-popping dance routine that left everyone amazed. The 17-year-old really impressed Simon Cowell by having so much skill and stage presence for his age. Check out his audition below where he truly had us all with our jaws on the floor.
Kieran Lai Impressed Simon Cowell On ‘BGT’ With Dance Routine
Kieran put on a hat and started off the routine as if he was a robot. His movements featured a combination of popping, locking and just awesome robotic moves. The routine seriously had us questioning if he is a man or if is he actually a robot. He danced to a master mix of songs and bent his body in ways we did not even know were possible.
All throughout the performance, Simon had a huge smile on his face. Amanda Holden and David Walliams were also smiling from ear to ear in amazement at Kieran’s talent. After the performance, Simon said that the fact that Kieran was only 17 was “unbelievable.” Simon wasn’t the only judge gushing over the performance. “Kieran you just absolutely blew our minds with that” Alesha Dixon said. “I thought the idea was brilliant. We keep saying to dancers, ‘come with a concept, come with a theme.’ You’ve done it.”

“Brilliant concept,” David said. “You are a brilliant dancer. Those moves were absolutely out of this world, plus you have huge charisma. It was flawless Kieran.” All eyes were then on Simon as they waited for his critique. “You know what Kieran, you are without question one of the best dancers we’ve ever had on this show. And if you put that together yourself, you’re a real genius Kieran” Simon said.
He Was Sent To The Semi-Finals By The Judges
Kieran got four “yes’s” from the judges and was sent to the Semi-Finals. “I think because I was on such an adrenaline rush I didn’t clock whatever the judges were saying to me until I looked back at my audition video and realized ‘wow they said some really good words about my audition,” Kieran told Talent Recap exclusively.
In the ‘BGT’ Semi-Finals, Kieran used animation to make it look like there were three versions of him dancing on the stage. He once again danced to another mix of popular songs. He was eliminated from the competition after this performance but certainly left the judges and the audience wanting more.
Where Is Kieran Lai Now?
After competing on ‘BGT,’ Kieran has continued to pursue a career as a dancer and creator. Kieran competed on another talent competition show called The Greatest Dancer in 2019. He impressed the judges with his fast-paced routine and stage presence.
He also admitted that he was a bit nervous during his ‘BGT’ audition. “I was actually pretty nervous for it because I had only just finalized the music maybe about two days before the actual audition and I was still creating it even until the day so that I had some kind of structure to the performance” he told us.
Kieran has also become quite the TikTok star. He has over 402,000 followers on the app where he shares a ton of fun dance videos along with content with his friends and family. The 24-year-old has over 7.4 million likes on TikTok currently.

Kieran continues to grow his social media presence and stars in a theater production called “& Juliet.” While live performances have been halted amid the coronavirus pandemic, the show will be back on stage in the spring featuring this ‘BGT’ star.
