Tobias Mead grew up playing football but he always wanted to be a dancer. He came to ‘BGT’ in 2010 looking to make all of his dreams come true in one of the most unique routines the show has ever seen. The 22-year-old literally danced backwards which sounds strange but you just need to see it for yourself.
Tobias Mead Brought A Unique Form Of Dancing To The ‘BGT’ Stage
Tobias had a warm welcome on the ‘BGT’ stage with judge Amanda Holden immediately crushing on him. He let her down gently when he revealed he had a girlfriend. He began dancing in a very robotic style which already made Simon Cowell totally in awe. But it was when he put his hood over his face and turned around to reveal a mask on the back of his head that the crowd went nuts.
Tobias began dancing with his back to the audience. The mask created the illusion that he was facing forwards when he was actually backward. He even incorporated a move where he bent his body in a way that looked like it hurt and did a bit of bone-breaking. The performance ended with him ripping off the mask and doing one last mesmerizing move.

Nobody was more impressed than Amanda. “I honestly was blown away by that,” she said. “It’s one of the best dances we have ever had. It was like your body was made out of liquid or something, it was brilliant.”
“It’s very clever, I have seen stuff like it before and they did cover a bit more ground than you did,” Piers Morgan said. Amanda completely disagreed with him and maintained that Tobias was one of the best dancers ever on ‘BGT.’ Simon ended up agreeing with Amanda and called Tobias “brilliant.” He made it to the Semi-Finals where he incorporated pole dancing tricks and illusions into his performance.
Tobias made it to the Final where he once again wore a mask on the back of his head and danced backwards. He finished the competition in sixth place.
Where Is Tobias Now?
After competing on ‘BGT,’ Tobias competed on another show called Got To Dance as part of a duo, Duplic8. The pair ended up winning the competition which earned them £250,000 in prize money.
Tobias got to perform with Taylor Swift at the Brits back in 2016. He also wrote on his Instagram that he has danced with Coldplay and Cheryl Cole along with performing at the Royal Variety Show.
He also was a part of a Magic Mike show in Berlin as one of the many sexy dancers who ditched their shirts and took the stage.
