Should Julianne Hough Return to ‘America’s Got Talent’ as a Judge?

America’s Got Talent has been a fan-favorite talent show for years, with millions of viewers tuning in each week. In season 14, the show added Julianne Hough to the judging panel. While she was initially well-received by fans, her absence on the show ever since, may have signaled that AGT has moved on without her. Her supporters, however, disagree with this move prompting the question: should AGT bring Hough back as a judge?

Hough was a judge on Season 14 of AGT. She joined the show in 2019 and left after just one season. During her time as a judge, she received positive reviews for her critiques and enthusiasm for the contestants.
In late November 2019, news broke that Hough and fellow judge Gabrielle Union were leaving the NBC variety show. It was reported that Union had raised issues of a hostile work environment and was allegedly told her styles were “too black” for the show. While Hough announced she was leaving the show to further her music career.
Although her departure from the show alongside Union was surrounded by controversy, Hough addressed her exit in a gracious manner. She expressed her positive experience and willingness to continue working with NBC. In her short time as a judge, Hough created memorable moments on the show, as well as increased her fans along the way.
Should Julianne Hough Return to AGT?
The simple answer would be no, there’s absolutely no need for Hough to return to AGT. There are several reasons why AGT should not bring back Hough as a judge. Firstly, her experience and knowledge may not be relevant to the type of acts that appear on the show. While Hough is a professional dancer, many AGT acts are singers, comedians, or even magicians, which means that her expertise may not always be applicable.
Moreover, the current lineup of judges on AGT is perfect for the show. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofía Vergara bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. Each judge provides valuable feedback that helps contestants improve their acts. Their chemistry is also great, which makes for an entertaining viewing experience.
Finally, Hough’s absence from season 15 was not strongly felt by many fans, indicating that she may not be a crucial element to the show. The current judges brought in for the latest seasons were able to provide fresh perspectives and kept the audience entertained.
While her presence on the show may have been appreciated initially, her absence in season 15 did not leave a significant impact. The majority of fans agree that the current combination of cast members is effective to keep AGT a significant show.
