America’s Got Talent: All-Stars recently aired its finale, naming aerialist Aidan Bryant as the winner. Fans might be wondering whether the spin-off will be renewed for another season. While there’s no official confirmation yet, it’s worth considering whether the show even should return, or if it’s better to just stick to the traditional AGT format.

The Pros and Cons of the AGT: All-Stars Format

There are definitely positive and negative aspects to the format of AGT: All-Stars. Despite the title change, this spin-off was pretty much identical to AGT: The Champions, right down to the Superfans. Winners and fan favorites from Got Talent shows around the world competed to be declared the “best of the best.”

There are definitely good things to be said about All-Stars. It’s nice to see popular acts get another chance at winning, and to see past winners return to deliver amazing performances. The inclusion of acts from other countries also adds something new to the competition.

However, the show’s format also invites plenty of criticism. Is it fair that Got Talent winners are going up against acts who only made it to the Semifinals? Should viewers at home be allowed to vote for their favorites instead of the mysterious Superfans? Are joke acts like Sethward and Dustin’s Dojo taking spots away from more talented performers?

Should the Show Be Renewed?

In answer to the question of whether AGT: All-Stars should be renewed, I would personally say yes, but with a few changes. I think the show could benefit from narrowing its scope and giving at-home viewers more of a say in who wins.

Instead of having fan favorites and winners from around the world competing against each other, why not be even more specific and have a winners-only season? Acts who have won Got Talent around the world could compete for the ultimate title. It could even be a one-time special like the recent Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician competition.

On the flip side, AGT could host an All-Stars season featuring no winners at all, giving finalists from past seasons a second chance to prove themselves. In this case, I think it’s important for voting to be available to people at home, so they feel like they’re helping their favorite acts earn redemption.

This would obviously mean that at least part of the season would have to be live. But considering how many fans have complained about not having a say in the results, allowing viewers to at least have a say in the finale seems like an important change for the show to make.

What do you think? Should All-Stars be renewed? Should the format stay the same? Do you wish you could have voted for this season’s winner? Let us know in the comments below.
