Dancing with the Stars Season 31 celebrity Selma Blair was a winner at Tuesday night’s People’s Choice Awards. The actress took home the award for Competition Contestant of 2022. To make the honor even more special, the award was presented by her friend Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Blair competed on this season of Dancing with the Stars with partner Sasha Farber. The actress danced through five weeks of the competition before withdrawing due to health concerns associated with multiple sclerosis.

During her acceptance speech on Tuesday, Blair said the award was “kind of a huge deal for me,” adding, “I can’t believe the people gave me something after giving me so much the last few years of learning how to connect and to feel supported by people.”

Blair gave a shout-out to Farber, who was in the audience, “for being my partner in this and finding a way to help me move better.” She also thanked Gellar “for being here for everything that means something to me.”

Other Talent Show Stars Took Home Awards

Selma Blair wasn’t the only talent show star to walk away with a People’s Choice Award on Tuesday. Watch Out for the Big Grrrls star Lizzo received awards for the People’s Champion and the Song of 2022, while American Idol winner Carrie Underwood earned the award for Country Artist of 2022.

Underwood was recently shut out of the Grammy nominations, so earning an award from public voting was especially meaningful. She said in her acceptance speech that she has “the most incredible fans” and called the award a “wonderful early Christmas present.”

Meanwhile, The Voice took home the award for Competition Show of 2022 for the seventh time. The coaches and host Carson Daly accepted the award from the show’s set shortly after Tuesday night’s live results show. It beat out shows such as The Masked Singer, American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and Dancing with the Stars.
