In a clip from the recent concert, McCreery can be seen strumming his guitar and singing, before abruptly pausing his performance to point into the crowd and say, “Right here, right here. That’s a lady you just hit, sir. Absolutely not.”
He calls for security to come and deal with the situation, asking if the woman was OK and telling the man to “get the heck out of here.” Fans booed the man, and in another clip, the singer can be heard saying, “On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show?!”
The crowd could be heard chanting “Scotty!” as he waited for the situation to be dealt with. McCreery called it “absolutely unacceptable,” adding, “Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady.”
Eventually, McCreery continued his show. In a statement, Colorado State Fair officials confirmed that an assault took place during the concert and security stepped in, adding that the incident is “still under investigation.”
