Ryan Seacrest is back for another year of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC. Seacrest has joined the festivities in Times Square before the ball drops for the past 16 years. For the first time ever, a Spanish-language countdown will also be broadcast from Puerto Rico.

It is the 50th anniversary of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and ABC has decided to expand the broadcast. The Spanish language countdown is set to kick off at the Puerto Rico Convention Center and at DISTRITO T-Mobile. The city of San Juan is also celebrating its 500th anniversary, making this event even more special. Puerto Rico’s countdown will be broadcast at 11:00 p.m. EST since they do not honor Daylight Saving Time.

‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ Expands to Puerto Rico

“We are very excited to host ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2022’ on our Island and to count on this high-caliber event to project the greatness of Puerto Rico and our people,” said Governor Pedro Pierluisi in a press release. “This celebration not only allows Puerto Ricans to enjoy this great historic event; it also speaks to diverse communities around the world that our Island is ready to receive tourism and foster economic development. We have so much to offer as a destination, and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will be a testament to all that Puerto Rico has to offer.”

Seacrest will still be leading the Times Square Eastern Time Zone celebration. In his 17th year in Times Square, Seacrest will welcome some of the world’s biggest music stars in front of a massive audience. So far, no performers or co-hosts have been announced. Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will begin on Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. EST. Dick Clark passed away in 2012 and Seacrest has been carrying on the program’s legacy as the main host ever since.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve keeps the party going hours after the ball drops. The broadcast airs until 2:00 a.m. EST. Viewers always get to see glimpses of New Year’s celebrations all over the world and in different time zones. Last year’s broadcast brought in 18.4 million viewers in the hour that the ball dropped in New York.

This year, ABC will be competing for ratings against New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash on CBS. Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, and Gabby Barrett are just some of the country superstars set to perform during the broadcast. It is another five-hour New Years’ celebration that will be broadcast across several time zones.
