Ryan Seacrest Knocked Over by Excited ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest took a bit of a tumble in a recent episode, as an excited contestant knocked him to the floor while celebrating his win. Seacrest was okay, as he and contestant Daniel Thomas laughed off the clumsy moment.
Ryan Seacrest Knocked Over on Wheel of Fortune
During the bonus round at the end of the show, Daniel Thomas was tasked with solving a one-word puzzle in the category “Living Things.” Thomas only had three letters to work with, but he managed to say the correct answer (“guppies”) at the last second.
“Yes! You got it,” Seacrest told him, prompting Thomas to start jumping around excitedly. Seacrest offered him a hug, which Thomas accepted — a little too hard. The embrace sent Seacrest off balance, and he fell to the floor.
Thomas helped Seacrest off the floor as the host laughed and assured him he was “good.” He then revealed that Thomas’ correct answer won him $40,000 — bringing his total for the episode to $71,950. He then moved toward Seacrest, who jokingly backed away.
The host ended up giving him another quick hug as he congratulated him. He then asked, “How did you do that in the last second?” to which Thomas replied, “Push you over or solve the puzzle?”

Seacrest Wants to Give Away a Million Dollars
Seacrest joined Wheel of Fortune in September of last year, after longtime host Pat Sajak retired. Last month, Seacrest shared his goal for 2025, and it involves potentially giving away a lot of money to a lucky contestant.
“I love giving away the money,” Seacrest said. “I get so excited when people win the money, and they win a lot of money. I’m hoping to give away a million dollars in 2025.”
Just because Seacrest is now the host of Wheel of Fortune, that doesn’t mean he’s done hosting American Idol. He’ll be back for Season 23 when it premieres on ABC on Sunday, March 9. Seacrest has been hosting the talent show since its premiere in 2002.
