‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ Stars The Vivienne, Tia Kofi Release “Jingle Bell Rock” Duet

If you weren’t already excited to have a Merry Drag-mas, it’s definitely time for you to get into the spirit. RuPaul’s Drag Race UK stars The Vivienne and Tia Kofi have teamed up to release their take on an original Christmas tune. Their take on the hit song features a new electronic pop element and fun added lyrics.
You haven’t heard “Jingle Bell Rock” like this! As a Christmas song lover, I love their rendition of this hit. Tia Kofi and The Vivienne are two of the United Kingdom’s favorite drag queens, since their time on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK they’ve had successful careers. Both queens have released music in the past year and toured the U.K. with the ‘Drag Queens of Pop’ theatre show. Tia Kofi and The Vivienne both have large platforms of 281,000, and 448,000 followers on instagram.
The Drag Queen Rendition of “Jingle Bell Rock” Actually Rocks
The queens worked with song producers Simon Jones and Julian Wharton on this tune. They released their soon to be hit with Intention Records. “Jingle Bell Rock” features the classic Christmas lyrics with some fun drag queen lingo.
I’ll admit, I laughed too hard at the end of this song. The lyrics finish and one of the queens says “ho ho ho” and the other says “what did you call me?”
Their rendition of “Jingle Bell Rock” was teased on Instagram earlier this week, and fans could not contain their excitement. Step out of the way Mariah Carey, there’s a new Christmas hit in town.
Tia Kofi’s debut EP Part 1: The Damage was released in September and was quick to hit No. 3 on the main iTunes Chart, along with No. 1 on the iTunes Pop Chart. With stats like that, it’s only a matter of time until this song hits the iTunes charts too.
We’ve already seen some great new Christmas tunes this season and this should definitely be added to the list. Although I love the original version of this song, I’ll admit this version will also be on my playlist this holiday season.
