Nominations for the fourth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards were announced this week, and several of our favorite talent shows were included. The event honors nonfiction television series, including reality competition shows.

Talent Shows Nominated at Critics Choice Real TV Awards

RuPaul’s Drag Race was nominated for Best Competition Series and Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series. RuPaul is also nominated for Best Show Host and Male Star of the Year, and RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked was nominated for Best Unstructured Series.

Additionally, World of Wonder — which produces RuPaul’s Drag Race and several spin-off shows — was nominated in the Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Production category.

Meanwhile, there’s a separate category called Best Competition Series: Talent/Variety. This category features Dancing with the Stars and The Voice, as well as Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls and Gordon Ramsay’s Next Level Chef.

Kelly Clarkson earned a nomination for Female Star of the Year for her work on The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Voice, and American Song Contest. Since Clarkson won’t be coaching on The Voice this season, this is a nice send-off.

The Awards Will Take Place June 12

This year’s Critics Choice Real TV Awards will be held in person at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on June 12. The ceremony will be hosted by comedians Randy and Jason Sklar. The event is a collaboration between the Critics Choice Association (CCA) and producers’ organization NPACT.

“The amazing depth and quality of unscripted programming is evident in this year’s nominees,” NPACT General Manager Michelle Van Kempen said in a press release, “and we’re especially excited to be able to pay tribute to them and the entire unscripted community at an in-person gala, after two virtual years.”

You can see the full list of nominees on the Critics Choice website.
