‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6’ Teases New Twist That Leaves the Queens Shook

Reading Time: 2 minutes
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 is promising some major twists ahead of its June 24 premiere. The show is exclusively streaming on Paramount+ this year, which is already a major change. A new trailer for the season shows tears, drama, and 13 queens turning some stunning looks for a chance at RuDemption.
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6’ Has a Big Twist in Store for the Queens
The first challenge on any season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is typically a talent show where the queens can perform anything they want. Jan will be singing and it appears that A’keria C. Davenport, Eureka, and Kylie Sonique Love will also be singing and dancing. Ginger Minj will be turning the stage into Candyland for a fun performance with confetti flying down from the ceiling.
RuPaul teases in the trailer that this season is going to be a “game within a game.” The format switched up last season when each week’s challenge winner had to lip-synch against a Lip Sync Assassin from another season. If the challenge winner beat the Lip Sync Assassin, she got to choose who went home. If she lost, the majority vote from the queens in the competition determined who went home.
In the trailer, we do see the queens putting lipsticks into the dreaded black box. This means some kind of voting still will be taking place. In the very first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, the queens had to work in pairs throughout the competition. Hopefully, this does not come into play again because so many fan favorites were sent packing by default. It looks like a queen from a past season will be making a dramatic return on the main stage, but the trailer hides her identity.
“Relationships are going to have to come into play!” Jiggly Caliente says in the trailer.
This Season Has Extra Special Guest Judges and Returning Favorites
This season, guest judges will include Aisha Tyler, Big Freedia, Charli XCX, Emma Roberts, Jamal Sims, Justin Simien, Tia Mowry, Tina Knowles-Lawson, and Zaldy. Franchise veterans Cheyenne Jackson and Fortune Feimster will also make appearances for what we can only assume is an acting challenge. Miss Piggy, Angela Bassett, Alec Mapa, Jermaine Fowler, and Tanya Tucker will be making guest appearances as well. Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, and Ross Mathews are all returning as judges.
Ahead of the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 premiere, Logo will air a RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars marathon starting on Monday, June 21 at 6 p.m. ET/PT. RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 winner Shea Couleé and Season 13 winner Symone will be hosting VH1’s The Queens of the Screen movie marathon leading up to the premiere.
