RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 14 is premiering tonight on VH1, but that’s not the only exciting project RuPaul is debuting. The drag queen also dropped a new album called Mamaru, featuring 10 new songs. Appropriately, this is Ru’s 14th studio album.
RuPaul Releases New Album ‘Mamaru’
Ru’s new album Mamaru is full of pop songs perfect for practicing your runway walk. It even includes the R&B-infused track “Catwalk,” featuring Skeltal Ki, in which Ru shows off some breathy vocals. There’s also a reprise of the chill song toward the end of the album.
The queen also just premiered the music video for “Smile.” If you’re not a fan of Auto-Tune, you might want to avoid this one. Other tracks on the album include the electronic “Fascination” and “Mother of the House,” in which Ru raps. Last year, he released the album’s first single, “Blame It on the Edit.”
You can stream the new album Mamaru in its entirety on Spotify. Also don’t forget to tune in to the Season 14 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race Friday night at 8/7c on VH1.

The ‘Drag Race’ Host Has Released 14 Albums
Mamaru is RuPaul’s 14 studio album. He released his first, titled Supermodel of the World, in 1993. His last album before this one was titled You’re a Winner, Baby. It was released in January 2020. He’s also released several EPs, remix albums, and compilations.
Ru has also gotten political in his music. In 2017, he released the album American, inspired by the 2016 presidential election. He shared the meaning behind the title song in an interview with NewNowNext before its release.
“The song ‘American’ is a beck and call to reclaim what this country really stands for which is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And I think it’s so important now to do that,” Ru said. “What we have that the other side does not have is love and spirit and dancing and laughter and joy of life.”
