Amid the intense drama that got some of the queens shaken, RuPaul Charles stormed into the workroom to knock some sense into the remaining contestants. The Drag Race All Stars host staged a scene, sharing words of encouragement that prevented Kahanna Montrese from quitting the show.
RuPaul Charles Enters Werk Room to Scold Queens with Some Tough Love
Over the last few weeks, there had been a number of strange and unexpected events in the Drag Race spinoff. The episodes featured Heidi N Closet eliminating herself and Jaymes Mansfield getting removed from the show by a unanimous vote. Subsequently, a streak of failures almost convinced Kahanna Montrese to pack her bags and leave, nearly getting drowned in insecurities.
With the heightened turmoil, RuPaul Charles felt the need to intervene. The Emmy-winning host bursted into the werk room, reprimanded the queens, and gave them a no-nonsense real talk.
“We’re gonna have to talk ladies,” he said. “I just want to set you straight before you make any mistakes that you can’t undo. You’re having all these feelings—of course you’re going to have these feelings, you’re under a lot of pressure—but feelings are not facts. You’re having emotions? Go, ‘Oh yeah, I’m feeling some kind of way, but I’m gonna do this thing, because I’m a professional, I’m a professional!'”
In response, Kahanna and Kandy shed tears in the middle of Ru’s talk. According to Ru, it pays to ask “How many bitches can’t get a job” and “How many bitches work for years in this business” but have failed to obtain international appreciation, unlike the Drag Race cast.
Kahanna Montrese Thanks the Host for His Motivational Words
According to RuPaul, the queens must not let their feelings “sabotage” their experience. He further stated that Drag Race is the greatest stage in the world to present their act on. The host ended the sermon by stating that the divas cannot “allow the little things to derail your bigger picture.”
“So, Kahanna, you feel like you’re ready to pack your s*** and go?” he asked.
With zero hesitance, Kahanna replied, “No. I’m here for you. And I’m here for me.”
During Untucked, the Las Vegas-based queen thanked RuPaul for his inspirational sermon. Apparently, even she couldn’t believe that she almost gave up her dream on the show.
“I’ve been under pressure many times in my life. This was definitely the first time that I walked away from something that I really wanted — or almost did that, and the regret was instant,” she said. “A soon as she came, I was like, Kahanna, girl, what are you doing? Do you know how hard it took to get here?”
Fortunately, Kahanna did not quit the competition. Nonetheless, she was eventually sent home after the lip sync challenge.
