Married couple and former Dancing with the Stars pros Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have been open about their recent IVF journey to have another baby. Murgatroyd recently underwent a transfer procedure that unfortunately didn’t work.

Peta Murgatroyd Shares IVF Transfer Procedure

Earlier this week, Murgatroyd posted an Instagram video from the day of the transfer, showing her and Chmerkovskiy playing with their son Shai and visiting the beach before the procedure. She also showed herself after taking Valium, telling followers in the caption, “you will laugh your ass off as I get high pretty quickly.”

The next day, Murgatroyd posted a video showing the second part of the transfer day. Chmerkovskiy films her as she explains the machines, and then the doctor shows them the embryo under a microscope. They hold hands as Murgatroyd cries.

“I promised you all that I would be open and honest,” Murgatroyd wrote in the caption. “I had times where I was unsure of that decision throughout my IVF journey and even more so after we got the news that our transfer did not work. But going back on my word after being such an open book wouldn’t be right.”

Murgatroyd described the experience by writing, “One of the happiest days of my life, and then 10 days later one of the saddest moments I’ll never forget.” She later told People that she plans to “just to take a little break for a couple of months” before starting the IVF process again.

The Couple Has Been Open About Their Journey So Far

In June, Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy revealed that they were working with a fertility doctor after Murgatroyd had suffered three miscarriages. The couple has been open about their journey with IVF on social media in the time since.

Last month, the couple shared a promising update about the process, with Murgatroyd saying it’s been “going really well,” adding, “We’re kind of in the last stages of it. There should be — fingers crossed — a pregnancy pretty soon.”

In her new Instagram post, Murgatroyd wrote that she had “taken the necessary steps to start the healing process,” writing, “I will get my baby, just not right now.” Her fellow DWTS pros shared their love in the comments, including her sister-in-law Jenna Johnson, who wrote, “Love you with ALL my heart!”

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy are both former pro dancers on Dancing with the Stars. Chmerkovskiy left the show after Season 25, while Murgatroyd left after Season 29. The couple welcomed their son Shai in January 2017, and they got married later that same year.
