‘The Voice’ is known for having a rotating panel of coaches in its time on air. So while the news of Nick Jonas returning for the show’s 20th season is not shocking, it is the news fans are excited to hear. He will be joining Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson for this season’s vocal hopefuls, replacing Gwen Stefani on the panel.
Jonas’ Time on ‘The Voice’
Nick Jonas’ had previously been an advisor before getting to sit in the red chair for season 18. He did great in his rookie season, finishing 3rd with Thunderstorm Artis and becoming a big hit with the fans. The fans enjoyed what Jonas brought to the show, and when he wasn’t announced for season 19, it was heard. Fans took to social and expressed their views on the decision. One fan tweeted “I love Gwen but we want Nick.”
Why Didn’t Nick Jonas Come Back for ‘The Voice’ Season 19?
Jonas has yet to comment about his season 19 absence, but a Vegas residency for The Jonas Brothers might have conflicted with the show’s schedule. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, the Brothers Vegas show has been halted with no announcement of new dates. Another reason might have been to take extra caution at the height of the pandemic. A comment made to ET from Nick’s wife, Priyanka Chopra, expresses that both have health concerns that increased their risk. “We’ve been very, very safe actually, because Nick is Type 1 [diabetic], and I’m asthmatic,” the actress shares. “So, you know, we’ve just been super careful about who we interact with and how we do it.”
Nick Jonas’s Return On ‘The Voice’ Is Not A Comeback
For fans of the show and Nick Jonas, the news of his return is something we can look forward to. He brought something fresh to the show while fitting right in with the other coaches. He has been training for his return, and a recent tweet shows us he’s looking for the W. Now we’ll see how “the newbie has become the master.”
