Nikki Bella Calls Out Tyra Banks for Mispronouncing Artem Chigvintsev’s Name

Ironically, Banks made the flub while acknowledging her past mistakes regarding names.

“I messed up names last week too, but we are going to get to that in a second,” Banks said during Monday’s new show on Disney+. She then went on to introduce Chari D’Amelio and her partner Artem Chigvintsev, reportedly pronouncing his name “Chi-ven-sev.”
WWE star Nikki Bella, who competed on the show with Chigvintsev in Season 25 and is now married to him, tweeted a correction during the show. As she wrote on her shared account with sister Brie, “Tyra it’s CHIGvintsev lol.”
This latest flub comes after Banks called D’Amelio’s boyfriend Landon Barker by the name Logan during last week’s show. She apologized for the mistake this week, once again mixing up the names in the process. As she said, “Why can’t I get this right?”

DWTS Fans Are Criticizing the Host’s Flubs
A fan shared Bella’s tweet on the DWTS subreddit, sparking reactions from several users. As one fan wrote, “Why can she not just practice it? It’s not that hard to say if you get use to it, but Tyra just gets it wrong every week and doesn’t care.”
Another fan wrote, “If she knows she can’t pronounce something, she needs to PRACTICE. And also, maybe, perhaps, ASK Artem himself how to say his last name since it is his name lol.”
This isn’t the first time Banks has drawn criticism for her hosting. During her first season, for example, Banks mistakenly announced a pair as safe, before calling them back to share that they were actually in the bottom two.
Banks is currently in her third season of the show, now with co-host Alfonso Ribeiro, who’s made his own mistakes. Recently, he called contestant Shangela by the name Angela.
