Nick Jonas Shares Behind the Scenes Video From ‘Jersey Boys’ Set
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Former The Voice coach Nick Jonas posted a video from the set of Jersey Boys during tech rehearsal. This Jonas Brother is going back to his Broadway roots for this upcoming movie musical adaption. Jonas plays Frankie Valli in the upcoming streaming adaption of the classic show.
Jonas began his Broadway musical career in Les Misérables in 2003. He also has credits for being in Beauty and The Beast, Annie Get Your Gun, and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. On top of his Broadway experience, he also has movie musical experience from Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2.
Jersey Boys is a musical biography about the band, The Four Seasons, a rock band that gained popularity in the 1960s and 70s. Jonas will be playing the role of the band’s front man, Frankie Valli in this adaptation.
Jonas shared a video with the caption “Jersey Boys #musicaltheater #frankievalli #fourseasons.”
This adaption does not yet have a premiere date. But it seems it will be live sooner than fans may think considering they’re already at tech rehearsals.
Jonas’ Broadway Experience
This production is not a movie, but rather a musical adaptation similar to Hamilton on Disney+.
“I made the film over the last three years, but we shot it in three days,” said Thomas Kail, Hamilton Director, when asked about how they filmed the adaption. “We shot on June 26, 27, and 28 of 2016. We shot two live performances straight through with an audience—no stopping.”
So, if you liked the “in the Broadway audience” feel of Hamilton, you’ll love this adaption of Jersey Boys.
Strangely, Jonas will be taking on the role without the accompaniment of his brothers. The actors playing Valli’s bandmates on stage have not yet been announced. But, we do know that Jonas has talked to Valli about his role, and Valli will be visiting the stage for the filming of Jersey Boys.
“Jersey Boys has been on cruise ships, has been in almost every country that you can possibly think of, and now it’s being filmed for television and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is playing Frankie, so I’m really excited about that,” said Valli on the Today Show.
Valli even talked about how he and Jonas recently spoke about the role and they both have the same level of excitement. Valli has not shared any set photos or videos on social media. We’re unsure when exactly he’ll be “there to check it out” but it will probably be before Valli’s own tour begins on July 23.
