Nick Cannon Gets Fired From Viacom — Is ‘The Masked Singer’ Next?
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Nick Cannon was fired from ViacomCBS on Tuesday morning after using “hateful speech” and promoting “anti-Semitic conspiracy theories” on his podcast Cannon’s Class. He has long been a pioneer at Viacom, starting as a cast member on the Nickelodeon show All That and eventually launching his very successful reign as the host of MTV’s Wild ‘N Out since 2005. Nick is now demanding an apology from the company.
Viacom Fired ‘Masked Singer’ Host Nick Cannon From The Network
Nick took to Facebook to discuss his thoughts on the firing. After a video went viral on social media of the host talking about the comments in question, he maintains that he reached out to Viacom owner Shari Redstone “to have a conversation of reconciliation.” He said that he was met with “Dead Silence!” after this attempt. He went on to say “They wanted to show me who is boss, hang me out to dry and make an example of anyone who says something they don’t agree with.” But, a spokesperson from Viacom told Variety, “It is absolutely untrue that Nick Cannon reached out to [Redstone].”

Nick is demanding “full ownership of my billion-dollar Wild ‘N Out brand that I created, and they will continue to misuse and destroy without my leadership!” He went on to say that he also demands “that the hate and back door bullying cease and while we are at it, now that the truth is out, I demand the Apology!” Nick called this decision to fire him “unwise” and a “divisive decision.”
Nick Was Previously Let Go From ‘AGT’
Nick was also axed from America’s Got Talent after finding out the network considered firing him for a joke that he made during a Showtime standup special. At the time he said “My soul won’t allow me to be in business with corporations that attempt to frown on freedom of speech, censor artists, and question cultural choices. Not to get too detailed but this isn’t the first time executives have attempted to ‘put me in my place’ for so-called unruly actions.” He hosted the show for 11 seasons before leaving in 2017. “It was brought to my attention by my ‘team’ that NBC believed that I was in breach of contract because I had disparaged their brand,” he said. “In my defense, I would ask how so? Or is this just another way to silence and control an outspoken voice who often battles the establishment.”
Nick was replaced with model Tyra Banks on ‘AGT’ who ironically also just picked up a new hosting gig for the 29th season of Dancing With The Stars. Does Tyra get hired every time Nick gets fired?
