Former The Voice coach Miley Cyrus recently hosted a New Year’s Eve special on NBC for the second year in a row. During the show, she took the stage with former The X Factor star Fletcher to perform Cyrus’ song “Midnight Sky.” The duet is going viral.
Miley Cyrus, Fletcher Perform ‘Midnight Sky’ on New Year’s Eve
Cyrus started the performance solo, wearing a sparkly fringed dress. She then introduced Fletcher, who walked out in a black bedazzled suit. The singers embraced as Fletcher joined in on the song, and they even held hands for a moment as they sang.
Things got a little spicy when Fletcher got down on one knee and held Cyrus’ leg. The pair continued to belt out the song, ending the performance with a hug as the crowd cheered. Both singers sounded amazing on the track.
Fletcher (whose full name is Cari Fletcher) competed on the first season of The X Factor USA in 2011. She was put into the girl group Lakoda Rayne, which also featured The Masked Singer star Hayley Orrantia. The group made it to ninth place.
Last year, Fletcher released her debut album Girl of My Dreams, which featured the single “Becky’s So Hot.” The singer also performed that track solo during Cyrus’ New Year’s Eve special.

People Are Loving the Pair’s Performance
Cyrus and Fletcher’s performance is going viral, with one Twitter user writing, “can’t believe we just watched fletcher and miley cyrus fall in love on live tv.” Another user wrote that the performance “altered my brain chemistry.”
One notable fan of the performance is JoJo Siwa, who posted a TikTok reacting to it. She wrote, “POV: taking a break in between reps watching this for the 476,000 time.” Siwa drank from a water bottle as she watched, and when Fletcher got down on one knee, water dribbled out of her mouth.
While fans wait patiently for Cyrus and Fletcher to collaborate again, we can look forward to a new single from Cyrus later this month. She announced that the song “Flowers” will be released January 13.
