Reading Time: 3 minutes

At 16 years old, Rachel Mac is the youngest contestant left in the competition on The Voice Season 20. The singer for Team Nick has delivered some unforgettable performances on the show, and now she’s in the Top 9.

Nick Jonas has called Rachel his “dark horse,” but considering she earned the audience vote in the Live Playoffs, we’d say she has a pretty strong chance of making it to the Finals. She may not have as much experience as other artists, but she certainly has the talent.

‘The Voice’ Star Rachel Mac Is a Huge Blake Shelton Fan

Rachel might have joined Team Nick after her Blind Audition, but there’s a special place in her heart for fellow coach Blake Shelton. She apologized to Jonas, who was the only one who turned around, as she fangirled over Shelton following her performance.

“When I was in fifth grade we had to make a presentation about something we love,” Rachel recalled, “and so I made a presentation all about Blake Shelton and how much I love him.”

The Voice even showed Rachel’s presentation on a big screen for Shelton and the other coaches to see. Jonas said Shelton “screwed up” by not turning his chair for her. Shelton, meanwhile, said Rachel “made my week” with her excitement.

Rachel Is Friends with Fellow Contestant Rio Doyle

During her time on the show, Rachel made friends with Team Legend contestant Rio Doyle, who was unfortunately eliminated in the Knockouts. Rachel posted a tribute post to Rio on her Instagram account, writing, “I had to travel so far to find my closest soul.”

“An amazing musician. An amazing light. An amazing friend,” she continued. “So lucky our paths crossed, because now they’re parallel.”

Rachel included a fun photo of the friends enjoying a bag of popcorn in their pajamas. The singer has also posted photos and videos with her Knockout partner Zae Romeo, as well as former Team Nick star Andrew Marshall.

Her High School Has Shown Its Support for Her

Rachel is from Romeo, Michigan. Recently, her high school recorded a video to show support for the singer as she prepared to perform in the Live Playoffs. Rachel posted a photo of her smiling face after watching the clip, which featured the student body cheering for her in the bleachers.

According to her The Voice bio, Rachel participates in theater, marching band, and choir at her school, as well as leading youth worship at church. She said the video gave her “such a confidence booster going into the live shows.”

Rachel Mac’s Battle Was Considered the Best of the Season

During the Season 20 Battle round, Rachel went up against fellow Team Nick singer Bradley Sinclair with a duet of “Your Song” by Elton John. The performance earned a standing ovation from the coaches, who raved about it in their commentary.

John Legend said the Battle was “what music is supposed to feel like,” calling it perfect. Jonas declared it the best Battle of the season. He ended up choosing Rachel as the winner, meaning Bradley was eliminated from the competition.

She Has an Adorable Dog Named Nana

Rachel has posted about her dog Nana on Instagram. She even has a highlight in her Stories devoted to the pup, whom she calls Nana Banana. Around Christmas last year, the singer posted a video of herself singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” with her dog by her side. She wrote that “Nana wanted me to serenade her.”

We’ll find out soon if Rachel Mac makes it to the Finals of The Voice on Team Nick. Either way, we’re sure she has an amazing future ahead of her.
