5 Facts About ‘AGT’s Barbara Argyrou
Barbara Argyrou is from Greece.
Although Barbara largely sings in English and traveled to Los Angeles to audition for AGT, she lives in Greece. Many of her Instagram posts are written in Greek, and she has performed on Greek television and at events in her country. AGT is known for welcoming talent from around the world, even apart from its Champions spin-off, so we’re excited to see Barbara make her American debut.
She competed on ‘Junior Music Stars.’
In 2016, when she was 13 years old, Barbara competed on a Greek talent show called Junior Music Stars. She performed songs like Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk.” Above, she performs John Lennon’s “Imagine” on the guitar. Barbara’s talent show experience could be a plus for her on AGT.
She was also on ‘The Final Four’ in Greece.
Barbara’s talent show success continued in 2019, as she performed on The Final Four, the Greek version of The Four: Battle for Stardom in the United States. Although she didn’t win, she delivered some great performances. Check out her cover of “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes above.
Barbara has a single out.
Last year, Barbara released a single called “Can’t See the World.” You can listen to it on Spotify or check out the lyric video above. She also recently collaborated with singer Zaff on the song “NO.” We wonder if Barbara will perform any of her original music on AGT, or if she’ll stick to covers.
She’s covered Billie Eilish more than once.
During her time on The Final Four, Barbara performed Billie Eilish’s “Lovely.” She also posted a cover of “Bad Guy” on her YouTube channel shortly after Billie’s album was released last year. The video currently has more than 48,000 views.
Viewers complimented Barbara’s vocals on the cover, and a few even pointed out that she bears a resemblance to Billie. We know Howie Mandel is a Billie fan, so we wonder if he’ll make the comparison as well.
