Meet ‘American Song Contest’ Puerto Rican Singer Christian Pagán in Latest Sneak Peek

America’s next competition series, American Song Contest, premieres tonight on NBC. The network revealed multiple sneak peeks ahead of the premiere at songs to come. The latest sneak peak shows Christian Pagán’s original song “LOKO.”
In the preview, Christian is rehearsing on stage for the upcoming live broadcast. He’s seen dancing with multiple background dancers and a band behind him. The singer/songwriter is also singing his original single. His single “LOKO” is now available on all streaming platforms ahead of the competition.
The pop single includes a strong guitar beat with bilingual lyrics. It’s clear that there’s a strong dance inspiration behind this song. The lyrics are strong and come alive in the on-stage preview. Christian’s vocals are strong within both the song and the preview video. I think “LOKO” has everything it needs to become a viral song.
American Song Contest shared this preview alongside a few others. Other videos include original songs performed by representatives of Oklahoma, Minnesota, Indiana, Wyoming, Mississippi, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, and Iowa. It’s tough to predict how Christian’s song will do ahead of the premiere, but I think it’s unique sound will bring it far.
The American Song Contest premiere includes 11 artists representing a state or territory of the United States. Each singer will perform their original song live in hopes of gaining one of four spots in the next round of the competition. America decides who will remain in the competition through voting. Fans are able to vote on NBC’s website and app, as well as on TikTok.
Who is Christian Pagán?
Christian is a singer songwriter native to Puerto Rico. He was the first winner of Idol Puerto Rico and has become extremely popular since. Ahead of the competition he has 52,102 monthly listeners on Spotify. Following his historic win, he signed record deal with Universal Music. His first studio album, “Más de lo Que Soy,” debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart.
On top of singing and songwriter, Christian is also an actor. This singer was an actor in 24 episodes of the telenovela, Guerra de Ídolos, during his time on the series he also wrote songs for the show’s soundtrack. Recently, Christian acted in the Amazon TV series The Bay.
This singer has noted that his musical inspirations come from the music he grew up listening to. He stated that the inspirations are the musical styles of salsa, merengue, and reggaeton. Christian released three albums and several singles ahead of American Song Contest.
