It’s time for another exciting episode of The Masked Singer! Now that we’ve seen all the characters for this season, the guessing game is on. And after last week’s jaw-dropping reveal, these celebrities could be anyone!
Only three singers in Group C will make it to the Super 9. So who will be unmasked tonight? Scroll down for our Masked Singer recap for the Group C playoffs!
Who is The Astronaut?
Clues: The Astronaut says he’s loving this fresh start “as the Circle of Life starts spinning.” He stands next to a flag with Orion’s Belt on it and claims it feels like he’s “getting a foothold in this new world.” He was a bright star when he was young, but then overreached and got burned. Astronaut shows a hologram of himself, saying he was isolated and lonely. But “in the wild,” he kept wandering for what felt like “500 days, using sign language” until he found his own voice. A hologram of a French horn is shown. Now, he’s going to sing a song by a “dear friend,” Stevie Wonder.
All the singers were asked to provide their yearbook quote after their performances. Astronaut’s was, “We can all reach the stars, sometimes it just takes a little help from someone from an organized crime family.”
Performance: Astronaut blasted off into the stratosphere with his cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” He was pitch perfect and brought the energy too! This performance made me think he has to be someone younger and with some vocal background. He was dynamic!
Judges’ Guesses: Donald Glover, Corey Feldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Who is The Night Angel?
Clues: Years ago, Night Angel was “surrounded by other angels but lost in the crowd.” The clues show a fireplace. She then “left her safe place” and fell back down to Earth, as she passes a castle and a strawberry drawn on the side of a building. Night Angel explained that being on her own was “scary, because she felt rejection for the first time.” She drew a broken heart in purple lipstick. But she taught herself how to survive and hustled, building an empire. The men in black are holding a pitcher of sweet tea and a fan. She says “destiny led her back to the stage.”
Night Angel’s yearbook quote was, “If you’re willing to lend a helping wing, then you too can break barriers.”
Performance: Taking on Lady Gaga isn’t an easy task, but Night Angel brought the house down with “Million Reasons.” It was an emotional performance and she really showed off her rich vibrato. Plus, she has a super unique rasp on her high notes!
Judges’ Guesses: Regina King, Jessica Simpson, Taraji P. Henson
Who is The T-Rex?
Clues: The clues start with one of the men in black passing a pink globe with a party hat on it to the T-Rex. T-Rex then continued her story from the last clue package. When a meteor hit “T-Rex Island,” she was devastated when she looked around and saw “only singles and doubles” of them were left. A rainbow flies over a volcano. She mentions her heart was beating “like a bumblebee.” Then, to survive, she had to diversify so she wouldn’t be a one-hit wonder.
For her yearbook quote, T-Rex said, “If you dream big, your face can be everywhere. And you’ll never go extinct! Unless a meteor hits.”
Performance: T-Rex lit up the stage again, this time rapping and dancing to “Ice Ice Baby.” She really has a lot of energy! And the dance moves to back it up too. Her performances are always so fun and this was no exception.
Judges’ Guesses: Lilly Singh, Liza Koshy, Mikaela Shiffrin
Who is The Swan?
Clues: Swan said she was “petrified” before last week. Now, she says it feels like she’s “fallen down the rabbit hole into an amazing wonderland.” One of the men in black shakes a pink drink and pours it into a tea cup. Swan says her life seems like “all new moons and rainbows.” But she came from nothing! “Only through illusions” did she transform her family to a better place. She then moved west “to this wicked world of sunshine.” We see a glass dolphin with a “MADE IN JAPAN” tag on it. Lastly, Swan shouts out to her “fans and followers.”
Her yearbook quote is, “I’ve been the black swan and against all odds, I’ve been able to spread my wings for MILLIONS to see! Life is truly magic.”
Performance: Singing “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” Swan ended up dedicating her performance to panelist Ken Jeong! It was a sweet moment for a judge who rarely gets love. Her vocals left much to be desired, but she was clearly having fun on the stage.
Judges’ Guesses: Kristen Stewart, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Sandra Bullock
Who is The Rhino?
Clues: The Rhino is seen on a plane, because he’s “flying high.” He claims he’s “always been a risk taker,” which is why he’s had so many ups-and-downs. Rhino holds up a sign that says “SOUTH.” Just when he felt like he might hit the bottom, he met his wife, his “guardian angel.” She gave him stability and balance so he could “defy gravity.” Rhino flips a hamburger bun from a frying pan to one of the men in black, who cuts it in half with a knife. His wife inspired him to pursue new passions. He plays tennis on the wing of an airplane to close out the clues.
Rhino’s yearbook quote was, “Family is very important for success, especially when performing for a king is in your blood.”
Performance: To end the night, Rhino sang “Nice To Meet Ya” by Niall Horan. I love this song and Rhino is my favorite from Group C, so clearly this was right up my alley. He sounded so different from last week’s performance though! But he still but on quite a show.
Judges’ Guesses: Tim Tebow, Chris Pratt, Ryan Lochte
The Swan Revealed on The Masked Singer
Swan was chosen by the audience to be unmasked tonight. So all the panelists had one last chance to predict the celebrity under the mask. Robin thought the Swan was Nina Dobrev. Ken guessed Olivia Munn. Nicole predicted Megan Fox was the Swan. Guess panelist Joel McHale thought Mila Kunis. Finally, Jenny stuck with her earlier guess, Kristen Stewart.
The Swan was then revealed to be…
And yet again, none of the panelists guessed who she was. This is not a good season for them! The Masked Singer returns for the Group C Championships next week at 8/7c on FOX.
