Maryland Governor Confirms Maeve Kennedy McKean and Son, 8, Are Missing

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan confirmed that rescuers are searching for a member of the Kennedy family and her young son after the canoe they were on was found miles from their last seen location. They were last seen struggling in rough and choppy waters in the Chesapeake Bay.
In a press conference, Gov. said, “a former Maryland lieutenant governor’s daughter, Maeve, and her 8-year-old grandson, Gideon, went missing after canoeing yesterday afternoon.”
“An intensive search has been underway since late yesterday.”

“I reached out to and spoke with Lt. Gov. Townsend this morning and on behalf of the people of Maryland I expressed our most heartfelt sympathies and prayers to her and to her entire family during this difficult time,” Hogan said.
The Kennedy family spokesperson, Alan Fleischmann, too issued a statement.

“At this time, our family asks for privacy and that everyone keep Maeve and Gideon in their prayers,” the statement said.
Who Is Maeve McKean And How Is She Related To The Kennedy’s?
The missing 40-year-old, Maeve McKean is the executive director of the Georgetown University Global Health Initiative.
This is not all, obviously, she does have the famous Kennedy name. So let’s recap her royal bloodline.
Maeve McKean is the grandniece of former President John F. Kennedy, granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy and daughter of former Maryland lieutenant governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Robert F. Kennedy’s eldest child.
The U.S. Coast Guard continued their search overnight and other rescue agencies returned to the search Friday morning.
History Of Tragedies For The Kennedy Family
Just last year, another granddaughter of Robert Kennedy, 22-year-old Saoirse Kennedy Hill, died on Aug. 1 of an accidental drug overdose at the Kennedy family compound in Cape Cod.

The Kennedy family has had a history of tragedy spanning several generations. Starting from the high-profile assassinations of McKean’s grandfather and great-uncle to the fatal plane crash that killed John F. Kennedy Jr., the heart attack of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s ex-wife, Mary, and niece, Kara.
