Maddie Poppe Cancels Iowa Concert Citing Conflict With American Idol
American Idol winner and Iowa native Maddie Poppe regretfully confirmed yesterday that her concert scheduled in Cedar Rapids next month has been cancelled. Citing conflicts with Idol, Maddie said she is “contractually obligated to be elsewhere on that same day.”
Here is her full statement:
This show in Cedar Springs was part of the city’s Market After Dark concert series. It was booked before Maddie won Idol in May. Because of this, she didn’t know her contractual obligations at the time. Not wanting to commit prematurely, Maddie didn’t confirm the show before it was publicly announced. It seems like there was a miscommunication somewhere along the way!
Looking at the tour dates, on August 25th Maddie and the other Idol finalists will be somewhere between Sioux Falls, SD, and Salem, OR. The American Idol Live! Tour schedule does not allow much flexibility, especially when it comes to their headlining act. They have crammed 47 shows all across the country in barely over two months!
It is unfortunate that the concert was announced before it was officially confirmed! And it seems like Maddie is just as disappointed as her fans are. You have to feel for Maddie though, who doesn’t want to let down her hometown supporters! But if you’re a fan of hers in Iowa, there’s still hope of seeing her live! She will be performing in the Hawkeye State twice in September, in Clinton on the 22nd and in Jefferson on the 28th.
