Louis Walsh Comments On Being Replaced On ‘The X Factor UK’

There are some persistent rumors coming from ITV that not only is The X Factor UK going to replace Nicole Scherzinger, but that they are also getting rid of Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne as well. This is all in an attempt to boost The X Factor‘s sagging ratings. Louis says that he doesn’t know about Nicole, but that he and Sharon have ‘watertight’ contracts…that doesn’t mean the network won’t get rid of them.
They are signed to a three year contract which has as a clause that if ITV wants to get rid of them the network must buy out their contract. It would be expensive, but totally something in the realm of possibilities. ITV may believe that they are losing more in ad revenue from sagging ratings than they would be out if they purchased Louis and Sharon’s contracts.
I really don’t believe that the problem with the show is the judges. In fact, people seem to love these four judges and their bickering with Simon. It’s just possible that the show has run its course after so many seasons or that being against ratings beast Strictly Come Dancing is simply killing the show. We’ll see what ITV does but getting rid of Louis and Sharon strikes me as desperation not good production decisions.
